Summer Time and the Livin is Easy

Lauren has been visiting her family in the Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati for several days. So I figured I should update the blog and let everyone know what's been going on in my world.

Nouveau a le Jardin
Our first tomato is just about ripe. I helped a friend move and scored some awesome additions to our garden. The booty included a pepper plant, an heirloom tomato plant, two herb troughs, and several potted herbs. I think Lauren will be stoked when she gets back in town and sees the additions. I also picked up some really cool old windows that I figured we could do something neat with in the garden, more on that later.

Paper Cranes & Pendulum
We had our official 'last shoot' for Meryl Murman's narrative dance film Paper Cranes and Pendulum. I still have several pick up shots and b-roll to grab still so my work is not totally finished. This project has been two years in the works. I have been able to see some recent cuts and it is looking pretty snazzy!

Bounce
So I was a camera operator on a New Orleans bounce video recently, DJq's '8th Ward St. Roch' directed by Michelle Kowalski and produced by Rusty Lazer & DJq. The video is going to be a bit on the risque side, but hey that's bounce for ya. Photos by Kat Soulagnet the other Camera Operator, and Charlie Walker.

Grip World
During the work week I've been griping on Beautiful Creatures. Been a pretty good run that ends next week. Then it will be time for a little vacation before figuring out my next big show move and the rest of my career.

Music Box
So I got invited to check out Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth play a private show at the Music Box. It was pretty out there but an awesome experience. The venue is a totally interactive musical shanty town which he moved through and played during his set. Here is a few photos Dithyrambalina New Orleans.

Some Food

Lauren made some amazing turkey meatballs before she left. So I made an amazing turkey meatball sandwich on fresh baked bread.

Jimmy's is the corner store across from J&J's our neighborhood watering hole. They have daily specials and a few permanent items. The Who Dat Burger is never a let down with it's bacon, onions, peppers, mushrooms, lettuce, tomato, pickles, mayo, and cheese. I like to take mine across to J&J's to enjoy with a cold drink.

Speaking of J&J's, they find any reason to throw a party. Whether it's someone in the neighborhoods birthday or a big sporting event, they lay out quite a spread. Vera and I wandered in to find a crawfish boil.

 Cat in Bag
I used to not get it. Then Milo Meowskavich Cat-Hardy joined the family. Now it never gets old.

 I love internet memes.
So internet memes are kinda like one of my favorite things. So I picked a few that I really liked recently. If you don't know what a meme is:

meme/mēm/

Noun:
  1. An element of a culture or behavior that may be passed from one individual to another by nongenetic means, esp. imitation.
  2. An image, video, etc. that is passed electronically from one Internet user to another
