Baking a Cake and Kyle's Birthday

last Sunday was our friend Kyle's birthday. Last year I made him a cake, my first, from scratch; it was chocolate with chocolate icing and so, so good.

This year I decided to try something different and made him an apple spice cake from The Joy of Cooking. The rest of the meal was a taco fiesta, and delicious, complete with Christian's amazing guacamole (the secret here is a dollop of plain yogurt and tons of lime). However, because we're new to blogging and documenting the process, we only remembered to photograph the cake baking and the rest is for our memories. However, there are some Apples to Apples pics to show.
